THE ALTHEA PETAL VELVET POWDER (ALTHEA KOREA'S FIRST BRAND PRODUCT) REVIEW
I am so happy and proud of Althea Korea because not only did they turned two last month, they were able to produce their first ever brand product, the Althea Petal Velvet Powder! And I'm very thankful as well to Althea Korea because I was one of the lucky one who got the chance to have and try their product before it was even released on their website — my first ever Althea Korea Kit.
A little background about Althea Korea to my readers (if you haven't heard of it yet) — Althea Korea is the No.1 digital destination for all things K-Beauty. They got the name "Althea" from South Korea's national flower "Hibiscus syriacus" (Althea). The brand "Althea" represents the beauty of Korea as well as delivering beauty items to the world, just like how the flower "Althea" gives off fragrance of perfume. Althea has four key promises: free shipping from Korea (orders above 999 pesos), Althea authenticity guarantee, best price policy and 30 days unconditional refund. Althea also ships their products directly to your home within 10-15 working days, which is pretty convenient if you ask me.
Inside the Althea Korea Kit that I got are a few trinkets and of course, the Althea Petal Velvet Powder! The Althea Petal Velvet Powder is a light weight loose powder that gives a silky finish made with pure, natural ingredients. One of its main ingredients is the Althea flower extract which revitalizes the skin with natural goodness. It is full of antioxidants that protect the skin's barrier from dehydration and invigorate the skin for a beautiful complexion. The powder is also non-comedogenic, meaning it does not cause blocked pores. It also claims it has sebum control.
The secondary packaging of the Althea Petal Velvet powder is just this small box with labels regarding its code number, manufacturing location, bar code, expiration date etc. I do not understand some of the manufacturing details since most of it is in Korean. I would have preferred it more if there were English translation as well since Althea Korea ship worldwide and most of the buyers do not understand Korean letters.Upon opening the small pot is the 3g micro-fine particle that has a flowery scent. The powder is just translucent (white) and has a very smooth texture.
During application of the powder, you can feel that the fluffy puff is very soft and is an easy applicator. The powder itself is also really soft and just melts on the skin! It sets the makeup perfectly and is long wearing. If you compared it to the Innisfree No- Sebum Mineral Powder, it oils much faster but I prefer this more since it gives that beautiful glowing Korean skin that I want as compared to the Innisfree one which gives matte skin. It also has the pore blurring effect, which is a plus for me since I have really big pores.
My overall thought about the Althea Petal Velvet Powder is that I really love it and I would purchase it anytime soon (as soon as mine runs out)! It is perfect for daytime use and the price is pretty reasonable. Yes, it is small as compared to other loose powder products but the 3g for 210 pesos is kinda a great deal, especially if you compare it to Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Powder's original price, 5g for 360 pesos. Well, it is really hard not to compare it to the Innisfree Powder, since they are both loose powders made in Korea and sold on the same market. And in my opinion, the Althea Petal Velvet Powder is a potential competitor for that brand. It is that good for a first product! The packaging is also cute and compact, perfect for people who are always on the go — it can fit in your bag perfectly.
