MY "MILLENNIAL" PINK IDÉE FIXE
Millennials are entitled — so we're continuously thought of by the society. But no need to take this at heart as most of the older generations tend to stereotype the younger ones. It is only a matter of time for us to defy such expectations and surpass their normal.
Millennial pink is fashion's shade de jour, a color stipulating all things beyond fashion. The uproar over this obsession pretty much began last year when we crowned "rose quartz" as the "it" color of 2016. Then everything else followed. Every fashion enthusiasts just went gaga for "it", everyone just got to have it.
"It" caught the attention of many during the S/S17 under big names such as Gucci, Balenciaga and Valentino, to name a few. The millennial pink was also seen outside the runways and into the streets by different star style icons. And beyond this. It had already been a part of us years ago without knowing it. Millennial pink is considered as the "ironic pink". Ironic because it is not the usual "barbie pink". It is more of a nude-pink color: barely there pinks, dusty rose, faded peach, muted apricot, dull salmon and terracota shades. But to keep things simple, the millennial pink falls between the spectrum of beige and peach. I am currently obsessed with this "millennial pink" because gone with it is the girly-girl baggage associated with the color pink, not to mention it compliments my skin tone.
Outfit of the day: a logo tee from a StyleGenie event, and for that extra something, a dusty rose skirt, a pair of rose gold mirror shades and pink salmon tassel earrings. To not go overboard with all things pink, I kept the other pieves simple with a cross-body bag and converse sneakers.
